About

I do my best work where engineering meets product: understanding why a problem matters, then building systems that solve it well.

How it started

In fifth grade I got my first programming book, a guide to C++, and spent Christmas break teaching myself from it. Before long I was writing text-based, turn-based games, and being able to make something out of nothing but code felt like magic. That feeling never really left, and I’ve tried to stay a lifelong learner ever since.

I grew up in Clovis, California. In high school I was CEO of our FIRST Robotics team and pitched in on our 3D animation competition entries, my first real taste of building things with a team.

How I work

The part of engineering I enjoy most is taking an ambiguous problem and digging in until I understand why we’re solving it in the first place. I ask a lot of questions and try to see things from the user’s side, so I often end up working closely with our product team, trading ideas back and forth rather than just implementing tickets.

Teammates would probably describe me as thorough, reasonable and approachable. I’m always happy to answer a question or walk someone through something, without judgment.

Outside work

I work remotely alongside my two cats and self-appointed coworkers, Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm.

Away from the keyboard I love to travel, and you’ll often find me at Disneyland with friends, family or coworkers, or out in the backyard, which I designed myself in architecture software, landscaped, and am steadily getting better at caring for.
